International Supply Chain

We source, import and distribute packaged food from manufacturers worldwide into the retail, grocery and convenience channel of the United States East Coast. We buy finished, retail-packed product — and we are the importer of record.

ModelHow the trade works

We were established to build long-term commercial relationships with reliable international manufacturers — through direct import, private label, maquila and wholesale distribution. We purchase finished goods at an agreed Incoterm, carry them into the United States under our own name, warehouse them here, and sell by the case into retail.

The manufacturer’s responsibility ends at the agreed Incoterm. We do not ask suppliers to manage United States import formalities on our behalf.

Regulatory

FDA Prior Notice

Filed by us for every shipment, with the product, facility and shipment data required by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Customs

Entry and clearance

Customs entry, duty, and the commercial documentation set for each consignment arriving in the United States.

Compliance

Logistics

Warehousing and distribution

U.S. warehousing and wholesale distribution by the case into the retail channel, including route and account coverage.

Labelling. Products for the U.S. market require English, U.S.-format labelling. We advise on the requirement, and work with manufacturers who can produce it or are willing to develop it.

We sell by the case to:

SuppliersWhat we look for
  • Finished, retail-packed products with good shelf life and attractive packaging
  • An FDA-registered manufacturing facility with a designated U.S. Agent
  • Recognised food safety certification — FSSC 22000, BRCGS, IFS or SQF
  • Capacity for U.S.-format labelling in English, or willingness to develop it
  • Proven export experience and consistent production capacity
  • Transparency on price, minimum order quantity and lead time from the first conversation

Our objective is a serious, transparent and long-term relationship — beginning with a technical, commercial and logistical evaluation of the product, and samples before any commitment.

Regulatory servicesFor manufacturers and exporters
Registration

FDA food facility registration

Initial registration of a food facility with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the biennial renewal, and keeping the facility record current between cycles.

Representation

U.S. Agent

Avera HQ LLC acts as the U.S. Agent of record for a foreign facility — the United States point of contact through which the FDA communicates with that facility, including for emergency contact.

Identifier

Unique Facility Identifier

Obtaining or verifying the D-U-N-S number that the FDA requires as the Unique Facility Identifier on every food facility registration.

Labelling

U.S. label review

Review of the U.S. retail label before print against federal food labelling requirements — panel layout, ingredient statement, allergen declaration, nutrition facts and net contents.

Registration is a filing, not an approval. The FDA does not approve or certify facilities, products or labels, and an active registration is not a statement that a facility or a product is compliant. Registrations must be renewed between 1 October and 31 December of every even-numbered year.
Fees. Scope and fees are quoted per facility and per product, and are not published. Send an enquiry through the contact form, selecting the FDA Registration & U.S. Agent division; a written quotation follows by email.
